Laughing Boy LIVE COMEDY

Brick Lane

67-77 Hanbury Street

London E1 5JP

United Kingdom

Monday 8th March 2010 The VIBRANT team attended the first "laughing boy" comedy show with a spice of music. And we already hope its the first of many. With an exciting, fresh and ever so talented line up, we had high expectations.

The night started of relaxing with a nice ambient buzz and a mixed crowd of trendy, fashion forward typical brick lane goers mixed with your usual work people, industry people and overall, a really nice mixture of trendy unpretentious people. So the show began with the host Jamie Howard opening..Instantly making the crowd laugh with his homosexual and hetrosexual reffernces and jokes. Totally shinned and showed why he was hosting and that it was in fact his night alongside Arjun Rose!

After introducing first act Jason Patterson, everything was in full swing and jokes and laughs were being exchanged. He made a relationship joke that even tested some of the guys, but making them weary of there counterparts reactions! Classic! And the jamaican jokes were legendery! Truelly an insight of old fashioned caribbean parents!

He got a positive reaction but maybe the crowd was warming up! Not that much histerical laughter but definately had the crowd wanting to hear more. A perfect opening act but would have liked to have seen more crowd ridiculed jokes.. Were not mean, but they always have peoples attentions!

The second act was Joel Dommet. From looking at this guy, I got a great feeling and just knew/ felt as if he was going to have me in sticthes...He made a trendy fashion forward joke which resulted in him taking a lash on a group with big black framed glasses. Very funny! A hitler and a disabled joke... As touchy as both subjects can be, the place was roaring! His approach, delivery, and overall style was epic! He had no care for the audience, other then making them laugh, whilst shocking and ridulculing one or two. A perfect stand up.

The special guests, the VIP's and the regular guests all seemed to be having an awesome time.

Miss Cherri V graced the stage with her vocal abilities, demeanour and beauty and belted out a few songs, including the hit with Willey- "School days" Andher cover of Tinnie Tempa's NO:1 "Pass out" titled "Stilleto" As MTV.CO.UK quoted she is like Janet Jackson if she came from London. Cherri V is a deffinate performer, very talented and a stage diva as she strutted around and owned the stage with her power and soulful voice.

The last comedian was the headliner and one I had been waiting for...... Marlon Davis. (Facebook search him). We've follwed Marlon from his earliest comedy days with "you got jokes" the dvd, and his recent success in winning the FHM jungalist competiton earning him a whopping and tidy £5,000.

He made jokes about being black, Michelle and Barrack Obama, his parents house, Sex and oral sex, but to name a few. He had the place cackalling, laughing hysteriacally and even keeling over with the jokes still fresh in mind! It was a closing act/ headliner that was well thought through, well anticipated and all around well appreciated. By the atmosphere and the noise, everyone was clearly enjoying this.

We heard laughs and out bursts from the VIP area too so we know he hit home and catered to all. Guests such as Sarah jane, Twin b, Sadie ama, Shola ama, Scorcher, Cherry v, Ayak, Jaref, to name a few, were all in the building.

Fashion faux pas at the Oscars

As much as i am a huge Kate Winslet fan, this outfit doesn't do her beautiful curvaceous body any justice. Although her arms looked well toned and her hair and make up look stunning.

Mariah Careys dress looked very cheap and tacky! Its such a shame to see another curvaceous beauty get it so wrong!

Style Success from Kristen Stewart at the Oscars 2010

Its Great to see Kristen Stewart (Twilight's leading starlet) looking fabulous in a Monique Lhuillier strapless gown. Instead of her usual casual appearance. She has topped the Best Dressed list's for the Oscars 2010 by many style critics. For me Stewart needed some drop earrings to complete her look, but here at VIBRANT we still love her look. Lets hope 2010 promises much more style success form Stewart.

REVIEW ON "AMPT" LIVE BAND SHOW

28th March 2010

APMT LIVE BAND SHOW

@SOUND LEICESTER SQUARE

Show began at 8pm, some nice vibes opening with the live band!
We got a nice show from the January open mic shows winner, Chantelle angelina.
Her deliverance, her soulful sultry soft voice had presence, kept the audience engaged and definitely showed us she can sing! Definitely a fine example that the UK has amazing singers and not just in church choirs or made up 'studio singers'.

Seeing some usual and known faces was nice as well as seeing some new ones whom were really getting into the live action.

A special guest appearance by Leeds football player Jermaine Beckford, the usual socialites, and industry people including Sadie Ama, Dj Chucky, Lena FaceforMusic, Scorcher, Dj Shafty, Bigman Zest, to name a few.

Overall the show was enjoyable. The band especially the drummer proved to be talented, and poses a great talent in being able to play anything that got shouted out to them. The headline acts absolutely brought fire! The comedian seemed as if he self doubted himself... Already assumed the crowd wouldn't laugh or didn't get the joke before he was through. Mind you he had me in laughter with his BLICK joke, HATING, and FAT PEOPLE. #sad but true. The only lady on the bill was Princess Nya.... A true Princess she is, and one that can hold her own amongst her male counterparts whilst looking like a true Princess. She stepped in a dress that was very impressionable and showed she can get down in her heels whilst performing her club hits and new record 'hooligans'.

Big man Zest proved he can move for a big guy, get the crowd moving and has some serious lyrical flow.

The ones who shocked me most were Calvin Roche, Doom man and Cartey! Calvin's deliverance and style had my engaged throughout his entire performance and threw me completely, but pleasantly, with his vocal range. I remember listening to Doom man from his earlier Marvel days and Cartey from his Fatal attraction days. Long plaits, sweaty under 18 raves comes to mind. So to see them both on stage doing their thing was a nice thing to see. Its one thing to see London or UK talent but from my era and home town is even more. VIBRANT MAGAZINE SALUTES YOU BOTH.

Ive now downloaded my copy of 'Dooms Day'.

The performance from Skrills, Mafi ella, Ice cream and City may be said to have been over the top but in fact I enjoyed their presence! They ALL moved and worked the stage like true performers. Longevity is another topic! Lets hope its not another case of female MC's/ Rappers being present one minute and then the next no one remembers them or Rappers in general who only appeal to a certain audience and couldn't cross over mainstream. We hope to catch up with them soon for an interview!!!!

AMPT AND THE WHOLE TEAM.... VIBRANT MAGAZINE SALUTES AND COMMENDS YOU FOR YOUR CONSTANT MONTHLY STRUGGLE TO PROVIDE THE UK'S FINEST! WE DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS EVENING OUT.

THE PERFECT SUNDAY ENTERTAINMENT.

Paris Fashion Week

Vivienne Westwood Gold Label autumn/winter 2010/2011 collection
This show was heavily inspired by the principal boy/ school boy in a pantomime, hence the Prince Charming theme which was the starting point. Think Oliver Twist. That, at least, goes some way to explaining the moustaches – part Salvador Dali, part George Michael – which were painted on the models’ faces. It gave a masculine look but femininity overcomes and balances out the whole look. Generally baggy clothes and lose fits.

LANVIN/AUTUMN/WINTER 2010/2011 COLLECTION
Designer Alber Elbaz’s collection was filled with his usual simple and feminine trade mark. Some link it to the sporty, casual character of Lanvin's 1920s outfits. The catwalk was graced with voluminous sleeves, draped, flowing into the sinuously seamed dresses. Most in rich browns, greens. Deep dark and easy colours.

Jean Paul Gaultier/Autumn/Winter2010/2011 COLLECTION
This collection Gautier displays a great range, creativity, a few glamorous inspirational notes from what seems to be Hispanic & western cultures. A few different periods from the Mexican sector definitely is apparent. Aztecs, wealthy, chic Mexicans springs out. Gaultier presented a very imaginative collection for the haute couture SS10 season. The catwalk was graced by models such as sessilee lopez, iris sturbegger & anja rubik. And they were topped with braids & sombreros.

London Fashion week Pam Hogg show

This was the last show i attended.

This was such an adrenaline rush as we are huge fans of Pam Hogg. Slightly had no choice as fashion editor is A HUGE FAN!!!!

The whole week we were counting the days to this show and it finally came and i had to go alone.. No Vic! Couldnt believe it as we both were looking so forward to witnessing the new collection.

The show was by far the most packed show i had been to! It had major fashion-istas on front row and known faces such as Gareth Pugh, Peaches Geldof, Bella Freud, Dougie Fields, the singer Roisin Murphy, and Jody Harsh.

We witnessed London ‘It’ girl turned model, Daisy Lowe, open the show, which was held at the Science Museum. She wore a multicoloured, patchwork fur jacket and harlequin leggings, in geometric, slices of Lycra and leather. A statement was made instantly!
